I haven't blogged about Lost for ages

So here's a selection of Lost stuff I've come across and like.

Day 30 — Whatever tickles your fancy

My newest Lost tattoo

Today I went to the London Tattoo Convention. We go every year and don't normally get anything done but this year we had early bird tickets. There were already hundreds of people there when we arrived and they all seemed to want tattoos from the Frith Street booth, as did we. I was hoping to get another Valerie Vargas tattoo but I knew it was unlikely, I also wanted my fingers done by Stuart Robson. All of Valerie's appointments quickly filled up and everyone dispersed but me and Adam went over anyway and it turned out Stuart still had spots. So I became the first tattoo of the morning. Adam also got tattooed by Stuart with an amazing wolf head. The morning was spent hanging around the booth having a laugh and getting amazing tattoos! Excellent!
My tattoo is actually 4 tattoos. "Fate" on my left index finger, "Late" on my right index finger, "117" on my left pinkie and "195" on the right pinkie. The first two are obvious Lost/Charlie references to anyone who watches the show. The numbers are Ben and Charlie's candidate numbers. I already have the 6 famous numbers on my leg. Right now my fingers are really fat and I can't really bend them but here are the first photos anyway.

Day 16 — Character death that made you cry the most

Everyone knows how I'll answer this. Charlie's. But really I cried twice for him. There was when he was strung up by Ethan and Jack and Kate fought to save him. I really thought he'd gone and it was way too soon. Heartbreaking and one of the darkest things I'd seen on TV for a while; blindfolded and hanging from a tree in the jungle. I was so happy when he came around. Then came his real death that I really do think is the most beautiful and terrible TV death ever. He came to terms with what he had to do and became a true hero, sacrificing everything he'd gained on the Island. "Not Penny's boat". *Sobs*.

Charlie. No doubt about it. I was gutted when I couldn't buy anything of his in the Lost auction. He's the most human character, he has the most real faults I think but he turns out to be a real hero as well.

My second favourite it Ben. A very loveable villain. I'd totally follow Ben around the island. I want both of their candidate numbers tattooed on my fingers.

Day 02 — Your favourite episode

You cannot ask me this question! It's too hard. "Greatest Hits" and both parts of "Through the Looking Glass" would be high up on my list, especially because Charlie delivers one hell of a line in the latter (when Ben asks who had infiltrated the Looking Glass Charlie shouts, "It's Charlie, tell him I say hi!"). Anything from Season 5 is good too, I love everything about that season.

Day 01 — Your favourite quote

This is a tough one because I have a few and let's be honest, Lost is pretty hilarious in places. My top quote would probably be "Whatever happened, happened" said by one of my favourite characters Daniel Faraday but Ben and Charlie both have some brilliant lines too.

One I like from season 5 is when Jack asks Ben, "How can you read?" as they are waiting for their plane to crash and Ben says, "My mother taught me" and then gives Jack a little smile. Brilliant.

Another is this exchange between Charlie and Mr. Eko:

Mr. Eko: Climb that tree.

Charlie: What?

Mr. Eko: Climb that tree and perhaps we'll be able to get your bearings or see the plane.

Charlie: You climb it! What if I don't? You gonna beat me with your Jesus-stick?! I find it a little odd that your scripture-stick has dried blood on it!

Mr. Eko: Are you going to climb that tree or not?

And I don't even fancy him! That's dedication to a character on my part, trust me. One empty jar tattoo coming up.

Lost

I'm a huge Lost fan....well I was a huge Lost fan....no I still am a huge Lost fan. Now that it's ended I feel at a bit of a loss. I started watching back when it was first aired over here in 2005 and I was living in Coventry at the time. Life was pretty shit up there so it was one of the few things I'd look forward to each week.

Me and Adam were hooked from the start and the last episode in season 1 left me so frustrated and horrified. The second season I remember felt pretty long and boring but it soon picked up pace again and although by the end of season 6 it felt like a very different show to me I was just as hooked at the end as I was at the start.

Now I don't have Sky so sometimes watching Lost for us was a pain in the arse but we always managed it. But the all important last episode was the ultimate stress for me. We downloaded it as soon as it aired in America but just as we settled down to watch it we realised we'd only got half of it which meant another 24 hours to wait! I insisted we get up at 5am just so that we could watch the finale before I had to go into work. I did not want anyone to let slip what happened!

The last episode wasn't the end I wanted. Now don't get me wrong, I bloody loved it. I cried a lot too. I didn't even mind that some questions were left unanswered. I just don't think it made 100% sense. As Jack watched that plane fly overhead I actually wanted it to explode because in my mind if they were all dead it would have worked better. The best thing about the whole episode was the "Flying Jack punch" (that's what it's known as in our house anyway) and it can be viewed here at about 36 seconds in:

We're now watching every episode through again. We've done season 1 and I'm loving it. I forgot how funny the first few seasons actually were, there are some amazing one-liners. Watching from the start has made me realise a few things though. Firstly, Charlie is not Irish. I spent all those years thinking my favourite character was bloody Irish! I'm a tit. Secondly, and this actually occurred to me in season 5, Jack Shepherd is unbelievably fit and I wasted a huge number of year as Team Sawyer when I should have been Team Jack all along. Again, I'm a tit.

I'm all set for a Lost tattoo. Nothing as extreme as this little beauty but the numbers on my arm. I've also told Adam I'd like a Lost birthday cake this year with Jack and Charlie on it. I don't think it's going to happen though :( Oh and check out Lostpedia for all your Lost knowledge needs.
